The Spring Art Show, sponsored by the Port Lavaca Art Guild, is open to all artists and art students in Calhoun County. This year's show is being held at the old train depot in conjunction with the Red Cross Kite Fest.  This show is open to the public, after the judging at no charge on Saturday, April 16, from 12:00-4:00.  A judge will evaluate each artist’s work and ribbons will be awarded. The Guild reserves the right to reject any entry they deem not suitable.  Due care is taken for the safey of exhibits, but in no case is the Guild responsibe for any loss or damage to the entries.

 

TWO DIVISIONS:
Adult Division: The adult entries are divided into four different experience levels: Beginner (1-3 years); Intermediate (4-9 years); Advanced (10 or more years) and Professional. All work must be original and done exclusively by the artist with the exception of:

     Non-original Category: will receive ribbons, but will not be eligible for “Best of Class” awards.
     Work in Progress Category: no ribbons will be awarded.

Youth Division: Students presently in grades K-12 but no older than 18 years of age, are eligible. Artwork done in public schools will not be accepted.

1. Oil and Acrylic on canvas
2. Watercolor and Acrylic on paper
3. Pastel, Crayon
4. Drawing in Pen & Ink or Pencil
5. Sculpture
6. Print

CATEGORIES OF CLASSES:
1. Landscape
2. Still Life
3. Marine
4. Portrait & Figures
5. Free Composition, i.e. Abstract & Non-objective
6. Animals & Wildlife
7. Floral

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY IN SHOW:
1. Each artist may enter a total of six paintings, but no more than two per class-category. Works from previous Guild shows will not be accepted.  Non Guild members will be charged a 50-cent fee per entry.
2. Entries will be accepted on Saturday morning between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m.  Judging begins at 10: a.m.; therefore entries must be labeled correctly and displayed in the appropriate experience level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional).  Entries must be picked up Saturday at 4 P.M.
3. The maximum size for entries is 24” X 36” before framing. All paintings on canvas must be framed and ready to hang (no saw tooth hangers).    Entries painted on paper, i.e. watercolor, pastels & pencil, etc., may be framed or just matted with bulldog clips attached for hanging.
4. For each entry have prepared an entry form (available from the Art Guild) with your Name; Address; Division (i.e. Adult Intermediate or Youth 3rd grade); Original or Non-original; Class; Category; Title (optional); Price (if you wish to sell).

5. The Guild receives 10% of the sale price for each work sold.
